MISSION STATEMENT

Over the last 50 years, Municipal Solid Waste has become an important environmental concern. There are five aspects of Solid Waste Management:  Administrative, Financial, Legal, Planning and Engineering.

We are here to ensure that all aspects are covered in an efficient and timely manner. With our new Automated Garbage service, we hope to better the process of picking up your trash and keep Baton Rouge a clean city we can be proud of.

SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING CART SIGN-UP FORM
If you DO NOT currently recycle and would like to sign-up to receive a 64-gallon Automated Recycling Cart.

AUTOMATED GARBAGE COLLECTION

for any Automated Garbage and Recycling Service Issues.

The City of Baton Rouge and the Parish of East Baton Rouge (excluding Baker and Zachary) use an automated/semi-automated garbage collection system, provided by the City-Parish and Allied Waste Services, Inc. This system is one of the most advanced in use today. This system offers the advantage of a quieter operation, reduction in wind-blown litter, and ability to roll the cart versus carrying garbage to the curb.

A ninety-six gallon cart is assigned to area residents. To use the cart, residents simply roll the cart to the curb on their assigned garbage days and place it in the correct position for pick up. The automated truck will then come by, pick up the cart with its robotic arm and empty the contents into the truck. The arm will then set the cart back in its original spot, ready for the resident to roll back in.
