Cenikor Foundation, Inc., which is one of this country's oldest and most successful residential treatment, prevention and education program, has an office located in the Dr. Leo S. Butler Community Center.  Cenikor has been in existence for over 35 years and has helped thousands of people conquer substance abuse and reclaim their lives. The foundation does not rely on the government for its existence, but rather on its own labor forces and support from foundations, corporations and individuals in the community.   Additionally Cenikor charges no fee to its residents, other than a small admissions and interview charge.   Cenikor is not a “quick fix” however; residents spend an average of two and a half to three years in the program, working on changing the behavior that led them to the addiction and crime. To be admitted to the program you must be at least 18 years of age and mentally and physically able to participate in all aspects of the program.   You must schedule an admissions appointment (attorneys, probation officers and social workers may act on behalf of prospective resident).  You must be prompt and sober for interview and you must resolve all legal and personal matters before admissions.  And perhaps most importantly of all…You must possess a strong and sincere desire to change.   If you need help, or someone you care about needs help, please call:  Baton Rouge Facility, located at 2414 Bunker Hill Drive at (225) 218-1960 or the Baton Rouge Outreach 950 E. Washington Street at (225) 344-6060 or the New Orleans Outreach, 2025 Canal Street #222 at (504) 581-7810.
